I wrote this monologue for Antoinette after seeing that her 'brand' allowed for strength and antagonism with a back-story of sadness and regret. I've always been fascinated by judges who operate, it seems, in a parallel universe where they have been elevated beyond the spoken rules of the jurisdiction. Some, like Judge Mira in Malibu, displayed the very best qualities one would want in a judge whether he ruled for or against you, making one feel that your argument was perfectly understood.Another judge I observed, who shall go nameless, was cut from a different cloth. During lunch at Philippe's French Dip, an attorney overhearing a conversation I was having with a friend asked which judge I was talking about. When I said the name, he replied, "I went to law school with her. We called her the Red Witch" (except he didn't say 'witch')...
